Als 1989 die Mauer zwischen Ost und West fiel, stürzten sich westliche Plattenfirmen auf Ost Bands, DDR wie russische Bands gleichermaßen. Depressive Age war eine dieser DDR Bands, die sich das junge Label GUN Records im Vertrieb der BMG Ariola einverleibte. Die Band wurde bereits 1984 unter dem Namen Blackout gegründet und dann 1988 in Depressive Age umbenannt.
Damals herrschte im Westen Gute Laune Stimmung und Party Feeling, welches auf internationaler Bühne von Bands wie Bon Jovi ,Cinderella und Konsorten vertreten wurde und in Deutschland Helloween mit ihrem fröhlichen Metal große Bühnen bereitete.
Depressive Age, deren name Programm ist, passten damals nicht so wirklich in die positive Welt Stimmung, so dass das erste Album „First Depression“ (1992) nicht den erwarteten Erfolg brachte.
Anno 2023 ist die Bandbreite der metallischen Musik so weit gespannt, dass der Auftritt der Band mit den Urmitgliedern Jochen Klemp an der Gitarre und Sänger Jan Lubitzki besser passt, denn eh und je. Folglich kam der ordentliche Auftritt auf der Headbanger Stage auch gut beim Publikum an, so dass die 2022 in Angriff genommene Reunion von Depressive Age durchaus Früchte tragen könnte.
When the wall between East and West fell in 1989, Western record companies rushed at East bands, East German and Russian bands alike. Depressive Age was one of those GDR bands that the young label GUN Records, distributed by BMG Ariola, incorporated. The band was formed in 1984 as Blackout and then renamed Depressive Age in 1988.

Consequently, the decent performance on the Headbanger Stage was also well received by the audience, so that the reunion of Depressive Age, which started in 2022, could definitely bear fruit.
