Die Bonner Band Vamp (zuvor Roxx) hatte einen glänzenden Start mit ihrem Album „The Rich Don’t Rock„. Ihre Musik passte perfekt in die damalige Zeit und das (nicht nur) wegen ihres Ami Sängers Tom Bellini. Damals brauchte die Truppe keinen Vergleich mit reinen US Bands zu scheuen.
Ich habe die Band fotografisch über einen längeren Zeitraum begleiten dürfen und somit ziemlich viele Bilder schießen können, die dann auch fast alle beim Re-Release der ersten und unveröffentlichten zweiten Platte im Booklet Einzug hielten.

Die Open Air Pics sind 1987 in der Rheinaue in Bonn geschossen; mit auf der Bühne Peter Burtz und Roland Ha(w)k von Steeler.
Die Indoor Pics stammen aus Bonn (Biskuithalle) und Düsseldorf (Tor3) im Februar 1988 als Support für U.D.O. und aus Frankfurt als Support für White Lion.
Ricolf Cross, Gitarrist der Band, starb leider viel zu früh am 03.01.2015; RIP Ricolf.
The Bonn-based band Vamp (formerly Roxx) got off to a flying start with their album “The Rich Don’t Rock.” Their music fit perfectly with the spirit of the times, and not just because of their American singer, Tom Bellini. Back then, the band had no reason to shy away from comparisons with purely American bands.
I had the privilege of photographing the band over an extended period, which allowed me to take quite a few pictures—almost all of which made it into the booklet for the re-release of their first album and their previously unreleased second album.
Here are a few shots from and in front of their rehearsal space from 1989.
The outdoor photos were taken in 1987 at the Rheinaue in Bonn; on stage are Peter Burtz and Roland Ha(w)k from Steeler.
The indoor photos were taken in Bonn (Biskuithalle) and Düsseldorf (Tor3) in February 1988 as the opening act for U.D.O., and in Frankfurt as the opening act for White Lion.
Ricolf Cross, the band’s guitarist, sadly passed away far too young on January 3, 2015; RIP Ricolf.
