Beim ersten Hören des „Breaker“ Albums hatten sich Accept sofort in meinem Kopf festgesetzt. Dass solch eine Band aus Deutschland stammen könnte, war damals kaum zu glauben.
Dieser Auftritt in der Kölner Sporthalle war bereits mein viertes Konzert, welches ich von den Solingern sah. Im Vorprogramm spielten Exciter aus Kanada.
Zu dieser Zeit waren Accept neben der süddeutschen Band Trance und den Hannoveranern Scorpions DER deutsche Metal Export.
Die Bilder leider ob des miserablen Lichtes katastrophal, aber mehr war damals nicht drin. Man kam zwar damals mit (Spiegelreflex)Kameras in die Hallen, aber ohne Fotopass blieb mit einem 135mm Objektiv und einem 400er Film nicht mehr viel an Qualität.
Dennoch: selbst diese unscharfen körnigen Bilder zeigen ein Stück Solinger Metal-Schmiede.
The moment I first heard the “Breaker” album, Accept immediately stuck in my head. Back then, it was hard to believe that a band like that could come from Germany.
This show at the Cologne Sporthalle was already my fourth concert featuring the band from Solingen. Exciter from Canada opened the show.
At that time, Accept—alongside the southern German band Trance and the Hanover-based Scorpions—were THE German metal export.
Unfortunately, the photos are terrible due to the lousy lighting, but that was the best we could do back then. Although you were allowed to bring (SLR) cameras into the venues back then, without a press pass, the quality wasn’t great with a 135mm lens and 400-speed film.
Still, even these blurry, grainy photos capture a bit of the Solingen metal scene.
